Our Aims

We aim to be churches which are marked by the following:

we meet together regularly to worship God
we hear God’s word through public reading of Scripture and preaching
we remember Christ’s death and receive his grace through Holy Communion
we baptise children, instruct and nurture them in the faith
we witness to the good news of Jesus Christ
we warmly welcome all who come to us
we are ready to provide pastoral care and practical service to others in the parish
we are helped to grow as followers of Christ
we recognise, develop and use the gifts of each person
we are generous financially in support of the church
we maintain and develop the fabric and buildings for the glory of God
we are faithful in prayer for the needs of the church, parish and world
we support the wider mission of the church in our nation and overseas
we have strong ties with Christians in other churches locally, especially between St Peter's and St John’s
we aim to be broad and parish-based, providing a range of styles of worship

There are many ways to learn about Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian. You could read the Bible, beginning especially with the gospels in the New Testament. You could explore interesting websites such as rejesus. But it is most helpful to make contact with your local church, to experience Christian worship, to meet, talk and question with others. If you get in touch with us wanting to understand more, we promise to help you.

The Rector

The Revd Dr Mark Hart came to Plemstall and Guilden Sutton in 2002. He is married to Karen and they have three children: Grace, Fred and Ruby. He trained for the ministry at Trinity College, Bristol, was ordained at Chester Cathedral in 1998, and served as curate at St Barnabas Bromborough 1998-2002.

Prior to ordination he worked for 11 years in industry, in Huddersfield, Manchester and Rugby. Most of that time was with GEC Alsthom Turbine Generators Ltd where he was responsible for the computational modelling of steam turbine aerodynamics.

In addition to his parish duties he is Rural Dean of Chester, a part-time duty Chaplain at the Countess of Chester Hospital, a theology tutor for the Southern North West Training Partnership, a foundation governor of The Bishops' Bluecoat C of E High School and a member of the Council of Chester Cathedral.

He enjoys walking the family dog, Jessie, whose name is a contraction of Septuagesima, the Sunday when she first came to the Vicarage in 2004 after being rescued from the streets of Wallasey.
